Luís Henrique Guimarães, president at Raízen, and Rafael Grisolia, BR Distribuidora director president, are the new members of the board of directors, previously occupied by Nelson Gomes, Comgás CEO, and Ivan de Sá, TBG CEO. In the executive board, Sebastião Furquim, director at Ipiranga, will now fill the position previously occupied by Miguel Lacerda, also director at Ipiranga.

The president of the IBP, José Firmo, complimented the effort of the executive board members, emphasizing the collaborative form, the open space for dialogue and the search for improvement of the IBP processes. Firmo summarized the points under discussion, explaining the proposed amendments to the Bylaws are to adjust the profile of the membership categories and thus facilitate the association of new members.

The position previously occupied by Leonardo Junqueira, Repsol Sinopec Brasil CEO, will now be filled by Mauro Andrade, Equinor Vice President of Supply Chain, elected for a two-year term.

The president of the IBP, José Firmo, highlighted the conciliatory work of Junqueira as a member of the board. “He had a very important role, which is to maintain communication between the IBP Board and the E&P Board in an aligned and harmonious way. It is important to maintain this connection in a fluid way, a role that Mauro will also do efficiently”, he says.

Firmo also mentioned the work of the Institute to strengthen its communication with the public, in a modern language that translates to society the relevance of the industry, the benefits it generates in the economy and in jobs generation. This change points to a greater engagement in discussions of relevant topics and evaluation of strategic alternatives, towards a possible transformation of the industry in the coming years.

Recommended by the board, his name will be submitted to IBP’s General Assembly for election, according to the entity’s bylaws. The convening of an Extraordinary General Assembly is scheduled for early August.

Jorge Camargo, current IBP´s president, remains in office until March 31 of next year, when he completes his three-year term ahead of the Institute.

Experience

Presently, Firmo is the vice-president of Seadrill and director-president of the Brazilian Association of Petroleum Services Companies (Abespetro). He is also director of IBP since March of this year, when he was elected during the last General Assembly.

Holding a degree in Engineering, José Firmo has an MBA in Business Administration by the Rotterdam School of Management from Erasmus University (Netherlands). The executive has 25 years of experience in the services area in the oil and gas industry, with a solid international career.
