Aware of Brazilian natural gas market transformation, considering the release of “New Gas Market” – a government program for overhauling the natural gas sector –, the Brazilian Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels Institute (IBP), will host between August 14^th and 15^th, in Rio de Janeiro, the Natural Gas Seminar, one of the most relevant forums for debates on priority topics on the agenda of the natural gas sector in Brazil.

“The New Gas Market opens a space to maximize consume of this source in Brazil, considered the transition fuel due to its low carbon emission aspect. With the creation of a diverse market, including agents, flowingness, competitiveness, access to information and international good practices, natural gas will be a transformational vector of the country’s industry and development”, affirm Luiz Costamilan, IBP natural gas executive secretary.

The 19ª edition of Natural Gas Seminar will gather the value chain main stakeholders and the best experts to deepen the debate on openness, competitiveness and transition to the new natural gas market. Some names as Roberto Castello Branco, president of Petrobras; Décio Oddone, ANP director general; Ivan de Sá, CEO of TBG; Wong Loon, CEO of NTS; and Alexandre Manoel Ângelo da Silva, National Secretary for Public Policy Evaluation, Planning, Energy and Lottery of the Ministry of Economy, are already confirmed.

After the event opening, Carlos Langoni will present a conference about natural gas and the Brazilian economy. Continuing the first day, will be a round table about the conditions for making the pre-salt natural gas supply viable, with José Mauro Ferreira Coelho, EPE director of Oil, Gas and Biofuels; and Luiz Costamilan, IBP natural gas executive secretary. In the afternoon, Helio Bisagio, ANP infrastructure and movement superintendent, will talk about the challenges of a new natural gas transport model transition.

The debate surrounding natural gas distribution and … is part of the program. At the second day, Cristina Pinho, Rio de Janeiro govern; and Joisa Dutra, from FGV, will deliberate openness and competitiveness of these segments of the chain. Bruno Eustaquio, executive secretary, and Symone Araujo, natural gas director, both from Mines and Energy Ministry, will participate in the panel on openness, competitiveness and transition to the New Natural Gas Market.

The program also contains specific panels to discuss the challenges of pipeline natural gas activity in the industry’s new business environment, as well the prospects for thermal generation, the integration of the southern cone natural gas market and the international LNG market. Companies like Shell and Exxon will bring international professionals – Harry Whitaker and Kees Bouwens – to deliver the European experience in opening the gas market.
