Milton highlighted some special moments in the history of institute during 2018. The Rio Oil & Gas, for example, gathered more than 42.000 people, a 24% increase in visitation, and thousand content presentations. For the first time, the congress underlined transversal themes such as digital technologies and gender diversity in the O&G industry.

“An innovation at Rio Oil & Gas was the content offer. It was a huge success I hope spread Brazil OTC that we will held next years”, affirmed.

Other new feature, also during the Rio Oil & Gas, was the release of UnIBP, the first oil, gas and biofuels university, that represents the transition from a traditional model of training to a continuous learning format, focused on the needs of professionals who work or who wish to work in the industry.

“It’s a favorable moment to change methodology, learning, approach, which we will offer, to the industry, the possibility to capacitate them in its human resources. I, personally, think the biggest challenge of this industry resumption will be the human capital”, defended.

Antonio Guimarães punctuated the participation of employees and volunteers in the intelligence created inside the institute and defended the role of IBP as representative of the industry, especially in the moment of energy transition.

“IBP brings its ideas, expose and provoke a debate that permeates society, our leaders, the executive, the legislative and the regulator. We create dialogue”, he defended, pointed out that even more important than the industry success, the institute’s goal is to promote what is good to the country. “What we will produce, if we succeed, is wealth for Brazil, which means employment, investment, payment of taxes, and improvement of the fiscal situation and leverage of the Brazilian economy”.

In 2018, the sector also invested in a new communication format. A modern initiative lead by IBP, the Além da Superfície campaign, is on media outlets since September, with the aim of showing to the public the impact of the sector in the country´s economic development. To IBP president, José Firmo, if the regulatory framework keeps advancing as the last two years, the 2020 exhibition will make the 2018 edition look small. He also highlighted the event networking quality.

“One of the reasons we plan an event like that, is to deliver to all of you a piece of information that is not in the web, not in the internet, not in any publication. The only way to get the perception of what will be the future is to make a reunion between people, listening to different perspectives”, affirmed.

Numbers of the event

With a 39, 000 square meter area, the exhibition received more than 480 exhibitor’s brands and 33 sponsors. Comparing to 2016 edition, the Rio Oil and Gas had a 25% increase in visitation: 42, 200, majorly composed by managers, directors and industry professionals. The congress broke the record in number of delegates – 5,000 – and 200 speakers and more than 600 technical papers. Including 10 parallel events, the event surpassed a thousand content presentations.

According to the statement presented by IBP Events Manager, Victor Montenegro, the Rio Oil & Gas had visitors from 76 countries, such as United States, Norway and Argentina.

One of the innovations of this edition was the Strategic Tour with 285 strategic visitors, including delegations from Canada, Italy, Malaysia, Russia, France, Germany, Mozambique, Netherlands and others. Consultants hired by IBP were in charge to discourse about the opportunities Brazil has to offer and guide those visitors through the exhibition.

Firmo also mentioned others events planned for 2019 such as OTC Brazil, Rio Pipeline and O&G Techweek, and recalled the market cannot lose this positive environment and should continue investing and participating in upcoming events.

This year, the event broadened the multiplatform format with 480 exhibitors brands and 10 parallel events, covering relevant issues to the industry – O&G TechWeek, Sustainability and HSE Arena, Valor Knowledge Arena, Certification Forum, Decommissioning Forum, Downstream Forum, Onshore Forum, Dinner with CEOs and Professional of the Future.

The congress provided more than 600 technical papers, nine plenary sessions and 34 special sessions for almost 5,000 congressmen. Classified as the best place for networking and business development, the Rio Oil & Gas 2018 highlighted transversal themes such as digital technologies and gender diversity in O&G industry.

One of the novelties brought by this edition of Rio Oil & Gas was Think Energy, an event exclusive publication that proposes a reflection on topics that are of great importance to the O&G industry, in addition to analyze the ongoing recovery of the sector with the main players contribution.
