With IBP’s support, SMM discusses opportunities for the maritime industry

IBP is one of the supporters of SMM 2018, to be held from September 04 to 07, in Hamburg, Germany. The most important event in the maritime industry calendar, the fair, which takes place every two years, addresses the main challenges and technical upgrades of the segment, fostering new business opportunities.

This year, the highlight topics are digital safety, smart shipping, new trends in naval technology and green propulsion, as well as safety and defense of international shipping routes. In its last edition, the event had 50,000 visitors and more than 2,200 exhibitors from 66 countries in a 90,000 m2 exhibition area.

IBP member companies that wish to participate in the fair have a 25% discount on tickets for the conference. To register, they can get in touch with the Brazil-Germany Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Rio de Janeiro, Hamburg Messe & Congress GmbH (HMC)’s representative in Brazil and IBP’s partner.

Trends in the maritime industry

IBP has just made available for free download the SMM Maritime Industry Report (MIR), prepared jointly by Hamburg Messe & Congress GmbH (HMC), as the organizer of SMM, and the market research institute Mindline.

Themed Trends in SMMart Shipping, the publication considered the views of more than 2,500 participants, including senior executives, from 69 countries, to find out how decision-makers assess the future of the industry and which are their main concerns, expectations and priorities, especially after a troubled period due to the drop in new orders.

IBP partners with Russian Chamber of Commerce

On April 11, IBP signed a cooperation agreement with the Brazil-Russia Chamber of Commerce, Industry & Tourism, aiming to bring both countries closer to exchange experiences in the oil and gas sector. IBP´s Secretary General, Milton Costa Filho, the Russian Ambassador, Sergey Akopov, and the General Secretary of the Brazil-Russia Business Council, Gilberto Ramos, took part in the signing ceremony.

At the gathering, held at IBP headquarters, Costa Filho pointed out the importance of proximity to the country, one of the three major oil producers in the world. “This is the moment we have to seize and develop these opportunities. The relationship between our institutions can allow a bigger approach, a greater knowledge. IBP is honored for establishing this partnership”, he defended.

“We will be very energetic and I believe it is in the interest of Russian companies to work in this region, which is Russia’s preferential partner in Latin America,” Ramos said. “We will sign with operational goals. We really want to encourage this bridge. May it bring concrete and effective results, in the fastest time possible”.

IBP associate members and representatives of Russian oil & gas operators in Brazil also attended the ceremony.

German Commerce Chamber opens registration for business mission

Registrations for the business mission to the Achema fair, which takes place from June 11 to 15, in Frankfurt, in Germany, are now open. Promoted by the Brazil-Germany Chamber of Commerce and Industry in partnership with the German agency Energiewächter, the initiative also has IBP’s institutional support.

The delegation’s programme includes technical visits to projects and corporations, promoting a synergy with the main themes of the fair, such as chemical reaction technology, chemical engineering, laboratory technology, materials processing, renewable energy, as well as work safety and processes.

The Achema fair

The world’s greatest meeting for process industries, Achema is the leading event in highly complex sectors, providing an innovation and technology platform for business generation and networking. Its last edition brought together approximately 170,000 participants, 110 countries and 3,800 exhibitors.
