Magda was unanimously elected a member of the Board of Directors until the end of the current board tenure in March 2025. The new president has extensive and recognized expertise in the oil and gas industry. Her work alongside the other board members will greatly contribute to the IBP Board and the development of the oil and gas industry in the country.

“I am delighted to take over the presidency of the IBP Board of Directors, an institution that for 66 years has dedicated itself to advancing a competitive and sustainable industry. I will work hand in hand with the Board to find solutions to the challenges facing the oil and gas sector, in favor of the continuous development of our industry and committed to energy security,” said Magda Chambriard.

The executive was elected after the resignation of José Firmo as president of IBP, due to personal reasons. Firmo will conduct the transition process until in November.

“IBP has been growing in relevance and activity with the opening of the E&P sector, alongside the plurality of players projected for next productions. I am sure, the opening of natural gas and downstream will also bring more challenges of governance and new opportunities of growth, what drive us to a demanding scenario and with much more work to be absorbed in the next five years”, affirmed Firmo. “To me, it was an honor to be ahead of IBP and work with this team for two years. I’m proud to have participated in this Institute and how it works, it was the greatest prestige and professional gift I have ever received”, concluded Firmo.

Clarissa Lins is a Founding Partner at Catavento, a consultancy on strategy and sustainability. Catavento aims to influence corporate decision makers by identifying macro trends that represent risks and opportunities to the corporate strategy, and articulating dialogue with stakeholders.

She is also member of the Board of Directors at Petrobras since 2018, where she acts as an independent member. Clarissa chairs the HSE Committee and an independent member of the Audit Committee.

Clarissa is director of IBP since April 2016, senior fellow of the Energy and Infrastructure Center of the Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI) and member of the Global Future Council on The Future of Energy of the World Economic Forum.

Previously, Clarissa worked in the public sector for several years, at the Ministry of Finance during the elaboration of the Real Plan, at BNDES as special advisor to the Presidency and at Petrobras, as Executive Manager of Corporate Strategy and special advisor to the Presidency during the term of Philippe Reischtul.

She is an economist graduated from Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC), with a master’s degree in economics from the same university.

The recommendation of the Board of Directors will be followed by voting at the Extraordinary General Assembly, scheduled for October. The elected name will oversee IBP presidency until the end of the current term, in March 2021. Firmo will conduct the transition process until in November.

Luís Henrique Guimarães, president at Raízen, and Rafael Grisolia, BR Distribuidora director president, are the new members of the board of directors, previously occupied by Nelson Gomes, Comgás CEO, and Ivan de Sá, TBG CEO. In the executive board, Sebastião Furquim, director at Ipiranga, will now fill the position previously occupied by Miguel Lacerda, also director at Ipiranga.

The president of the IBP, José Firmo, complimented the effort of the executive board members, emphasizing the collaborative form, the open space for dialogue and the search for improvement of the IBP processes. Firmo summarized the points under discussion, explaining the proposed amendments to the Bylaws are to adjust the profile of the membership categories and thus facilitate the association of new members.
